We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework for Nursery and Reception children.

Primary Learning Pathways
What is Primary Learning Pathways?
Our school curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1-6) is called Primary Learning Pathways. It is the way that we organise and deliver the subjects of the National Curriculum and also wider aspects of primary learning. It is essential that a school curriculum is designed to give children the knowledge needed to succeed in their lives. Our curriculum has been designed to be vibrant and ambitious, giving all children (including disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs) opportunities to learn and remember more. The key drivers for our curriculum are Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Confidence and these can be seen as both aspects of learning and also as personal growth progression. These drivers follow educational research findings that most effective curriculum strategy:

What does the curriculum aim to do?
Primary Learning Pathways Curriculum aims:

Provide a broad and balanced education for all pupils

Enable pupils to acquire rich and deep subject knowledge, explore concepts and ultimately to develop skills, and be able to use and apply these.

Support pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development

Support pupils’ physical development and responsibility for their own health, and enable them to be active

Ensure equal access to learning, with high expectations for every pupil and appropriate levels of challenge and support

How is the Curriculum structured?
These are the subjects of the national curriculum as well as the agreed local syllabus for Religious Education and additional designed elements of Primary Learning. These subjects are delivered discretely (although learning links are made where appropriate) and progress is celebrated as learning milestones are reached.
Learning in each year group
In our small school settings we often have multiple year groups in one class. This mixed age teaching means that we often employ rolling programmes for some subject delivery. Other subjects may be organised into linear programmes for individual year groups.
