We had a great day today dressing up in a variety of hats to celebrate World Book Day.

The children sent in some wonderful photos of them enjoying reading in unusual places. Lots of them starring animals, which is lovely. Lots more photos below.

We also had presentations from a number of children sharing their half-term book reviews. We had a variety of powerpoint presentations; paintings and written work, some of which I have included through photos below.

We also took time to share extracts from the books the children brought into school with each other and discussed what they all love about reading.

All week we have been engaging with the daily podcasts at 11am with authors such as Julia Donaldson; Bethany Walker; Axel Scheffler; Nick Sharrat and Michael Morgurpgo. These events were very inspiring with online chats and suggestions.

Excitingly, during our podcast with Nick Sharrat on Wednesday, he took our suggestion for an illustration and demonstrated drawing a ‘Queen with a Quiff’, which the children thought was amazing. Especially as there were over five hundred school also taking part. A real life conversation between us and Nick – Wow!
